Ruchika S. Hira, Esq.

Email: [email protected]

Throughout her career, Ruchika Hira has devoted her law practice exclusively to matrimonial and family law matters. She has both trial and appellate experience. She is well versed in representing clients in a broad range of issues including but not limited to domestic violence matters, complex financial issues, which involve business valuations, asset tracing, and support issues involving complex executive compensation. She also handles emotionally complex matters involving disputes over child custody and parenting time. Able to draw on her skills as both a litigator and mediator, Ruchika is well equipped to resolve difficult issues for her clients, while understanding that each client is entitled to make decisions that are right for them and their family. Ruchika appreciates the importance of details, whether negotiating a premarital agreement, navigating the issues in a marital settlement agreement—or litigating in court if an agreement cannot be reached.

She is also a qualified Family Law Mediator, has a Certification in Mediating Disputes from the Harvard Negotiation Institute, and is a member of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators. Ruchika translates knowledge into insights and strategies tailored to the specific needs of her clients. Given the often painful and grueling aspects of many family law cases, Ruchika is privileged to assist clients through a difficult time in their lives and to assist them in beginning a new chapter in their life.

Ruchika is involved in a variety of other capacities. She is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, including its Family Law Section. She is also a member of the Morris and Middlesex County Bar Associations, including their Family Law Sections. Ruchika also serves as a Passaic County Matrimonial Early Settlement Panelist. She is also a volunteer attorney for Manavi, a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist those impacted by domestic violence.  She is also a member of the South Asian Bar Association (SABA). These activities connect Ruchika to a variety of insights and resources to better serve her clients.

Prior to co-founding Hira & Strlovski, LLC, Ruchika practiced at Damiano Law Offices and Budd Larner, P.C.  She has completed a Judicial Clerkship in Family Law with the Honorable Jo-Anne B. Spatola, J.S.C. (Ret.).

Ruchika earned her J.D. in 2008 from Rutgers School of Law, where she was the Marketing Editor of the Rutger's Journal of Law and Public Policy.  Ruchika graduated from New York University (NYU) in 2004, as an NYU Honor's Scholar.

Ruchika is a New Jersey native and grew up in Middlesex County. She currently resides in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, with her husband and two children, where she serves as a Member of the Bernards Township Board of Education  (BOE).
