Amy F. Gjelsvik, Esq. is a partner with Hira & Strlovski, LLC. Since being admitted to the practice of law in 2000, she has devoted her career to matrimonial and family law matters. She is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney, and is trained in Family Law Mediation and Collaborative Divorce. She has been appointed by the Court as a Guardian Ad Litem. She is a seasoned attorney with experience in both the trial court and appellate division.
Ms. Gjelsvik is a past-president of the Sussex County Bar Association and a member of the Family Law Section of the SCBA; a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the NJSBA, and former member of the Family Law Executive Committee; and has served two terms on the District XB Ethics Committee.
In addition to having the distinction of being repeatedly selected to New Jersey Super Lawyers, Ms. Gjelsvik has received community service awards from Project Self Sufficiency, DASI, an Equal Justice Medal from Legal Services of New Jersey, a Mosaic Award from Project Self-Sufficiency, and is a prior Attorney of the Year for Project Self-Sufficiency, and the Professional Lawyer of the Year for the NJSBA, as the recipient for Sussex County. For the past fourteen years, she has further served the community by volunteering her time as the Board Attorney for Birth Haven, Inc., a non-profit homeless shelter for pregnant women and babies in Newton, New Jersey, and for more than twenty years, has continued to assist divorce litigants resolve their cases as a volunteer Early Settlement Panelist.
Before joining Hira & Strlovski, Ms. Gjelsvik was a partner at Paris P. Eliades Law Firm LLC; Daggett, Kraemer & Gjelsvik; and Albino & Gjelsvik, LLC. She was honored to start her career as a Family Part law clerk for the Hon. Gerald B. Hanifan, J.S.C. (Ret.) in Sussex County.
Outside of her professional life, Amy cherishes time with her family, enjoys time spent with friends, loves to explore and travel, and has been an avid tap dancer since childhood.
